Husband Injured in Long Beach Traffic Accident
Long Beach, CA (July 20, 2023) – At about 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, 76-year-old Gaylin Reese of Long Beach sustained fatal injuries following a bicycle collision on Second Street.
Investigating officers said that a husband and wife was riding a tandem bike eastbound near Marina Drive in the bicycle lane. There was heavy vehicle traffic during that time and all cars were at a stop.
“The cyclists sideswiped a vehicle, lost control, and fell to the ground. After the collision, the involved vehicle drove away from the scene. It is unclear if the driver of that vehicle was aware of the collision,” LBPD stated.
Paramedics rushed Reese and her husband to a hospital, wherein Gaylin died and her husband was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said both of them were wearing helmets during the accident.
Meanwhile, there is no description of the vehicle that kept going after the collision. Anyone with further details on this accident was urged to call Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may also use the website www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
