Gaylene Herrera Dead, Cline Garner Hurt after Fresno Pursuit Collision

 
FRESNO, CA (July 3, 2019) – A pursuit crash in Fresno claimed the life of Gaylene Herrera and injured Cline Garner on Tuesday, July 2.
 
According to a press release, deputies responded to reports at around 5:00 a.m. The calls stated two people on a motorcycle acting suspiciously near Gettysburg Avenue and Vagedes Avenue.
 
Deputies tried to pull the motorcycle over near Gettysburg and Palm Avenues. However, the driver, 32-year-old Garner, and his passenger, 46-year-old Herrera, refused to stop.
 
Officers pursued the two and discovered the motorcycle about a mile away, near Palm and Santa Fe. However, the bike collided into a center median and the impact ejected both riders.
 
A witness stated that the black sport bike traveled southbound on Palm at around 100 miles per hour. After that, the rider lost control after crossing railroad tracks just north of Dakota.
 
According to Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti, paramedics transported Garner and Herrera to a hospital after the incident.
 
Herrera died at the facility. However, Garner underwent surgery and is in now recovering.
 
Officials shut down the intersection of North Palm and East Dakota Avenues as CHP investigated the incident.
