Driver Arrested after Hitting Teen Who Threw Food at His Mercedes-Benz

CHULA VISTA, CA (October 7, 2019) – Authorities identified 41-year-old Garrett Perry as the driver arrested after reportedly striking a teen cyclist on Lane Avenue, Monday evening.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:45 PM. Two teenagers, 14 and 15, allegedly threw food at Perry’s Mercedes-Benz sedan near East Lake Country Club.

Then, Perry chased after the teens, who rode away on their bicycles. The teens fled south on Lane Avenue before eventually riding onto the grass at the golf course. There, Perry struck the 14-year-old boy with his car before exiting the vehicle to punch the victim several times.

As per reports, Perry also stole the teen’s backpack and cell phone.
