2 Injured in Scott Valley Car Accident

SCOTT VALLEY, CA (April 30, 2019) – Two people suffered injuries after a DUI car collision on Highway 20 and Scott Valley Road on April 29.

The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. when Gabriela Garcia from Ukiah drove her black 2011 Nissan Altima westbound on Highway 20.

Meanwhile, Pedro Mendoza from Lakeport in his white 2006 Dodge Dakota traveled east on Highway 20 east of Scott Valley Road.

Due to Garcia’s level of intoxication, she let her Nissan drove across the double yellow lines, into the path of Mendoza. As a result, Garcia crashed into the Dodge Dakota’s front.

The collision left Garcia, and medics extricated her from the vehicle. Meanwhile, Mendoza exited his car on his own and complained of pain.

Both Garcia and Mendoza went by ambulance to Sutter Hospital in Lakeport. However, from there, a helicopter airlifted Garcia to Kaiser Vacaville.

Authorities arrested Garcia for felony DUI after determining that she was under the influence of alcohol.

Habits like distracted driving, speeding and DUI can lead to road accidents. Such habits are causes of disastrous incidents involving major injuries, damage and deaths. That is why it is important to drive defensively/abide by all driving laws to ensure your safety and the safety of surrounding vehicles, motorists, and pedestrians.
