8-Year-Old Child Hurt in Fatal Collision on Phelan Road

Phelan, CA (January 10, 2023) On Monday morning, 73-year-old Franklin Robinson, of Phelan died in a rear-end crash on Sheep Creek Road.

According to the CHP the fatal collision happened at about 7:29 a.m. near the intersection with Phelan Road.

Reports say that Robinson’s Nissan Frontier was stopped behind a Walmart semi-truck when a 2011 Mazda CX7 struck the rear of the Nissan.

The impact of the collision caused the Nissan into the Freightliner trailer, the crash seriously damages to the pickup truck and the Mazda.

Officials say that paramedics trasnported Robinson and an 8-year-old child to the hospital, however the 73-year-old Phelan man succumbed to his injuries and died at the local hospital.

Meanwhile, officials say that medics transported the minor to Loma Linda University Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, the 50-year-old Colton man driving the 2022 Freightliner Cascadia and the 22-year-old driver Mazda driver did not suffer injuries due to the incident.
