Driver Faces Charges in La Habra Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
Orange County, CA (October 9, 2024) – 31-year-old Francisco Chay-Garcia of La Habra was killed in a DUI crash in La Habra Friday.
The authorities said 23-year-old Rumualdo Ajxup Chay accelerated into a garage with enough force to collide through the back wall.
Francisco Chay-Garcia was standing inside the garage and was fatally hit.
The authorities charged Chay with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, along with a sentencing enhancement for fleeing the scene of a vehicular manslaughter.
According to the accident report, Chay did not enter a plea Tuesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. His arraignment was set for October 25 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton with a $100,000 bail.
