Major Damages Sustained in Multi-Car Accident in San Rafael
SAN RAFAEL, CA (January 29, 2019) – A total of four vehicles were involved in a car collision on Highway 101 Tuesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at about 4:00 PM along the southbound interchange of Highway 101 towards the transition to the 580 Freeway.
Officials reported that a Toyota, Tesla, and two box trucks were involved in the accident. All vehicles sustained major damages and both box trucks had to be towed away.
Due to the impact of the collision, police had to close one of the lanes which caused traffic to be backed up into northern San Rafael. Caltrans was called to clean up the fuel spill on the freeway.
The driver of the Toyota was injured in the crash, there has been no update on his medical status.
The cause of the collision is currently unknown, as the investigation is ongoing.
