Former Mayor Accused of Several Charges after Patterson Crash on Las Palmas Avenue

PATTERSON, CA (July 3, 2020) – Last Friday, an alleged DUI crash on Las Palmas Avenue involved former Hughson City mayor Tom Crowder.

According to reports, Tom Crowder is accused of impersonating an officer at the crash scene.

Canh Tram said that he drove down Las Palmas Avenue when he stopped to a red light on Elm Avenue.

“I say, ‘Some car behind me, look like they are drunk,’” Tram said. “I stopped the car there, he just hit me behind like about 40 miles per hour.”

After the crash, Tram stopped and reported to 911. However, an unexpected situation occurred and Tram managed to document it.

“He said ‘I don’t have my wallet I dropped it somewhere. I am (a) policeman, CHP.’ He held the badge up, I took the picture,” Tram said.

Later on, they found out that the badge he showed was fake. They also discovered that the man who impersonated an officer was former Hughson City Mayor Tom Crowder.

Due to this, the authorities accused him of impersonating an officer, hit-and-run, and driving while under the influence.

“I had a feeling he (was) drunk, he maybe (would) run away, hit and run and I got (the) right feeling,” Tram added.

Canh Tram also said that Tom Crowder fled the crash scene.

“He used the f word a lot,” Tram stated. “Because he worked for government as mayor he knows the law. Why (did) he play the game with the law and (did) he pretend (to be a) Policeman, CHP and hold the badge up? That’s a big no.”
