Florencio Alonso Jr. Dead, Sary Tuy Detained Following Pedestrian Crash on Carmenita Road Near Lakeland Road

 
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (April 15, 2019) – A Whittier man died in a pedestrian crash on Carmenita Road near Lakeland Road early Sunday.
 
According to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. Larry Dietz, Florencio Alonso Jr. was identified as the fatal victim.
 
California Highway Patrol officers say Alonso died when 26-year-old Sary Tuy struck him around 12:25 a.m. with his 2007 Toyota.
 
Per reports, Alonso was walking east across the roadway when the incident happened. Shortly after, the 30-year-old died as a result of his injuries.
 
Officers arrested Tuy moments later ON suspicion of drunk driving. However, he posted $100,000 bail, resulting in the release of his custody Sunday.
