1 Dead and 2 Injured in Nuevo Car Crash on Ramona Expressway
NUEVO, CA (March 26, 2020) – On March 24, a fiery car crash killed a man and injured two other people on Ramona Expressway.
According to reports, the fatal crash which occurred just east of Nuevo led the car to be split into two pieces.
The incident took place on Ramona Expressway, less than a half-mile east of Hansen Avenue at around 1:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol revealed.
According to the agency, there were numerous reports that the people inside the Ford sedan was probably involved in a robbery in San Jacinto. They were reported to be escaping west when the collision happened. However, these claims are still unconfirmed.
The California Highway Patrol also said that the driver lost control of the car while traveling at a high speed. The car then crashed into a pole or other roadside object, until the vehicle broke apart.
The Aftermath
When the Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived, they declared one man dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medical responders transported two other occupants to the Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment for moderate injuries.
The identities of the people involved in the crash remains unreleased as of this time.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol closed both east and westbound lanes on the Ramona Expressway. They also diverted the traffic onto side streets to get around the closure. According to reports, the closure lasted until 4:00 p.m.
