Fiery 2-Vehicle Crash on SR 167 Injures 5 People [Kent, WA]

(August 9, 2024) On Thursday morning, 5 people, including 3 minor ages 12 to 14 years old, were hurt in a fiery 2-vehicle crash on SR 167.

According to Kent police, the head-on collision happened at about 1 a.m. on SR 167 and S 277th Street.

Reports say that officers tried to stop an 18-year-old driver on a stolen Nissan near Central Avenue S. and James Street, but the driver sped off. Officials pursued the vehicle but failed to apprehend the suspect vehicle.

Authorities say that the Nissan ran a red light at SR 167 and S 277th Street and collided head-on with a mini Cooper turning left at the intersection.

The crash caused at least one of the vehicles to burst into flames.

Medics say that all occupants on the stolen vehicle, the 18-year-old driver, the 3 minors and the 42-year-old driver in the Mini Cooper, all sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Police arrested the 18-year-old male driver of the stolen car and has been booked into jail.
