Brentwood, CA (May 23, 2025) On Wednesday evening, a fiery 2-vehicle crash on Highway 4 left 2 people dead at the scene.

According to authorities, the fatal head-on crash happened around 10 p.m. on Highway 4.

Reports say that 2 drivers died Wednesday night in the head-on collision in Brentwood.

Authorities say that one vehicle traveled in the wrong direction and collided with another car. Both drivers died at the scene.

One of the vehicles, an electric car, caught fire after its battery ignited on impact. The crash triggered a hazmat response due to the release of toxic fluoride gas from the battery.

Authorities shut down Highway 4 between Balfour and Marsh Creek roads overnight, reopening it around 5:20 a.m. Thursday. The victims’ identities have not been released.
