Fernando Herrera Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 [Turlock, CA]

Turlock, CA (November 22, 2021) – on Sunday, 21-year-old Fernando Herrera of Lodi suffered injuries in a vehicle crash on Highway 99.

Officers responded to the scene at about 2:30 a.m., 

Officers said the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was in the middle northbound lane at West Monte Vista Avenue.

He veered right sharply and left the east edge of the road. 

Afterwards, the SUV went down an embankment. It overturned and rested on its roof. 

The driver, 29-year-old Luis Rudolfo Mojarro of Lodi, was not wearing his seat belt at that time. He was ejected onto the Monte Vista on-ramp to the highway. 

Rescuers took him to Emanuel Medical Center, where he died.

Mojarro’s passenger, Herrera, was wearing his seat belt when the crash happened.

He sustained major injuries including broken ribs, back, scapula and right hand and a possible skull fracture. Emergency rescuers took him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment. 

Meanwhile, the authorities are still investigating this crash.
