Hesperia Off-Road Collision Results in Fatality
Hesperia, CA (December 16, 2023) – 15-year-old Fernando Gamiz Jr was killed following an Escondido Avenue collision Friday night.
It was about 7:54 p.m. on December 15 when the collision between a dirt bike and a quad occurred south of Ranchero Road.
The accident report stated that one of the off-road vehicles overturned and the rider was thrown onto the street pavement resulting in severe injuries.
Responding firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department provided CPR to the victim. They rushed Gamiz Jr to Desert Valley Hospital in critical condition but he died.
Moreover, the second rider left the scene but returned minutes later. He incurred minor hand injuries and facial abrasions but declined medical transportation.
Troopers closed Escondido Avenue between Cromdale Street and Buffalo Road while CHP investigated.
