OCEANSIDE, CA (December 29, 2022) – Wednesday, a female pedestrian suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Mission Road and Interstate 5.
 
The incident happened at 11:24 a.m. on the eastbound Mission Road off-ramp from Interstate 5 northbound.
 
“A female pedestrian was walking eastbound on Mission Road, crossing the eastbound Mission Road off-ramp from I-5 northbound, within a crosswalk,” said Oceanside PIO Ryan Harrison. “A man was driving a pickup truck on the I-5 northbound off-ramp to eastbound Mission Road. For reasons still under investigation, the pickup truck driver struck the pedestrian causing major injuries to her.”
 
Harrison added that the pickup driver escaped the crash scene on northbound Interstate 5.
 
Moreover, officers described the suspect as a man between 30 and 50 years of age. Officers described the truck as an older model ’80s to early 2000s red Ford F150 extended cab.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP, Oceanside Police Department, and Oceanside fire/paramedic personnel all came to the scene.
 
Also, an ambulance transported the female pedestrian to a local fire department. Then, responders airlifted the victim to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with major injuries.
 
Moreover, the crash impacted I-5 northbound to eastbound Mission Road at about 12:45 p.m.
