1 Hospitalized in Port Hueneme Bicycle Accident on Hemlock Street
PORT HUENEME, CA (June 19, 2019) – A 44-year-old Port Hueneme female bicyclist died after an SUV hit her on Hemlock Street.
The incident occurred on June 18. The Oxnard police and rescue crews responded to a report of a vehicle and bicycle collision around 5:30 a.m. on Hemlock Street at Seaside Drive.
The rider sustained serious injuries. Responders took her to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura. However, she later died at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the 2006 Ford Explorer driver, a 26-year-old Oxnard man, remained at the scene and helped with police.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the collision happened when the westbound Ford Explorer approached Seaside Drive. The rider also traveled west on Hemlock Street. She made a left turn into the path of the vehicle and the Ford driver wasn’t able to avoid the collision.
Speed, alcohol or drugs are ruled out as factors in the collision.
