1 Person Dead in McDonald County Auto Accident on Interstate 49 and MO 59
MCDONALD COUNTY, MO (May 5, 2025) – Saturday night, a fatal two-vehicle crash on Interstate 49 and MO 59 killed one person.
The incident happened on the Interstate 49 overpass of MO 59.
According to reports, a southbound passenger car rear-ended a southbound 2025 Freightliner Cascadia for still unknown reasons.
Moreover, responders rushed a 23-month-old female passenger of the passenger vehicle to Freeman Neosho where the patient was later pronounced dead. Then, paramedics transported the 22-year-old female driver of the vehicle to a Joplin hospital with minor injuries.
Furthermore, authorities confirmed that the 55-year-old male driver of the tractor-trailer sustained no injuries in the collision.
Meanwhile, the crash closed southbound Interstate 49 but has long since reopened.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit continued investigating the crash.
