41-Year-Old Man Killed in Modesto Train Accident
MODESTO, CA (December 28, 2018) – Friday night, a 41-year-old man from Modesto was killed in a collision involving an Amtrak train near Highway 132.
According to officials, the crash occurred about 10:45 PM on the railroad tracks just west of Santa Fe Avenue. California Highway Patrol stated the driver was eastbound on Yosemite Boulevard before going around the lowered railroad crossing arms and directly into the path of the train.
The engineer was identified as Kenneth Marty of Virginia City Nevada.
First responders arrived at the scene shortly after but reported the driver died at the scene. No one on the train was injured.
No further details have been disclosed, as the authorities continue to investigate.
