2 People Dead in Pleasanton Auto Accident on Highway 680 near Sunol Boulevard

PLEASANTON, CA (December 20, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 680 near Sunol Boulevard killed two people.

The incident happened at around 2:36 p.m. on southbound Highway 680 near Sunol Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a car veered off the roadway for still unknown reasons and crashed down a 20-foot embankment.

Moreover, responders pronounced two adult occupants of the car, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported two adults with major injuries, two more adults, and two children with minor injuries, to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, the crash closed the center lane of the highway, but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the SLPD continued to investigate the crash.
