Fatal Rollover Crash on Interstate 17 and Milepost 237.5 Kills 1 [Black Canyon City, AZ]

1 Person Dead in Black Canyon City Auto Accident on Interstate 17 and Milepost 237.5

BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (April 22, 2025) – On Sunday, a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 17 and Milepost 237.5 killed one person.

The incident happened on southbound Interstate 17 at Milepost 237.5.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a southbound station wagon drove off the southbound lanes to the left onto a straight-level section of the newly paved road. 

Then, the vehicle drove partially up the median hillside and then back down into the southbound lanes, where it rolled over multiple times. Also, the force of the crash ejected the 49-year-old male driver of the vehicle into the pavement.

Authorities confirmed that the ejected driver died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported a female passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy to a hospital for treatment.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information, the DPS continued to investigate the crash.
