Fatal Multi-Car Accident on Highway 50 Near Sunrise Boulevard [Rancho Cordova, CA]

1 Dead, 2 Hurt in Rancho Cordova Accident

 
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (April 4, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident turned deadly Wednesday morning on Highway 50 near Sunrise Boulevard.
 
The 8 a.m. crash happened just west of Sunrise Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver in a Toyota Tercel that was pulled over on the shoulder tried getting back onto the freeway. Meanwhile, a Toyota Prius rear-ended the Toyota Tercel, pushing it onto the freeway.
 
Subsequently, a cement truck traveling on the highway broadsided the Toyota, killing the right front-seat passenger.
 
As a result, the Toyota drivers suffered unknown injuries, urging paramedics to transport them to nearby hospitals.
 
Following the crash, officials closed all lanes of the highway and reopened them around 10 a.m.
