Driver Killed in Fiery Crash on Highway 99 near Messick Road in Yuba City

 
YUBA CITY, CA (August 06, 2019) – A driver died in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 99 near Messick Road Sunday afternoon.
 
Officials said they received a call about the incident at around 2:30 p.m. A silver Lexus was northbound in the left lane of Highway 99. For an inexplicable reason, it abruptly cut over hard to the left and subsequently crashed head-on into an SUV traveling southbound in the left lane. As a result, both vehicles burst into flames.
 
The driver of the Lexus died at the scene. On the other hand, someone who witnessed the crash pulled the driver of the SUV out of the vehicle.
 
The SUV driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicle.
 
The crash prompted the closure of Highway 99 in both directions. All lanes reopened after officials processed the scene.
