64-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bakersfield Auto Collision on Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 10, 2020) – Early Thursday morning, a 64-year-old man was killed a DUI car crash on Highway 58 and Lokern Road.
Around 5:05 a.m., the Bakersfield Communication Center received reports of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 58 just west Lokern Road. Emergency personnel arrived to the area shortly after.
The investigation revealed that a 64-year-old man traveled in a westbound Cadillac SUV on Highway 59. However, for unidentified reasons, the driver let his Cadillac went off the road about 4 miles west of Lokern Road.
Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle rolled over before landing on its roof in a nearby dirt field.
Reports later revealed that the driver was not using a seat belt at the time. Thus, he was ejected from the vehicle. An air ambulance flew him to Kern Medical for further treatment around 9:30 p.m. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The surrounding area was closed off during preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.
