1 Killed in Kings County Car Accident on Highway 198
KINGS COUNTY, CA (August 6, 2019) – A person died in a car accident involving a big rig on Highway 198 on August 4.
The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on Highway 198 near 7th Avenue east of Hanford. According to Highway Patrol officers, the pickup traveled west on Highway 198 and ended up in the eastbound lanes.
The big rig crashed straight into the truck and pushed it back into the westbound lanes as both vehicles crashed into a telephone pole. The incident knocked down the power lines in the area.
Furthermore, the two vehicles both caught fire.
Officers confirmed that the pickup driver died at the scene while the big rig driver didn’t suffer any injury.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
