1 Killed in Las Vegas Car Accident
LAS VEGAS, NV (July 22, 2019) – A person died at a hospital following a car accident on Carey Avenue on July 19.
Authorities responded to East Carey Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard around 1:34 p.m. According to some witnesses, the speeding 2016 Hyundai Elantra driver traveled south on Nellis Boulevard near Carey Avenue.
The driver failed to yield at a red light and hit a westbound 2003 GMC Envoy on Carey Avenue. After that, the Hyundai then crashed into a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder which made a left turn to Nellis Boulevard.
According to the Las Vegas police, flying debris struck a westbound school bus. However, the bus’ occupants didn’t suffer any injury.
Meanwhile, the responders transported all the GMC, Hyundai and Pathfinder occupants to University Medical Center. The GMC and Nissan Pathfinder drivers both suffered minor injuries.
Furthermore, the GMC’s female passenger sustained critical injuries. The 31-year-old male Hyundai driver from Las Vegas died at UMC.
Authorities ruled out impairment as a factor in the collision.
Road closures and delays are expected in the area while the crash remains under investigation.
