La Joya Officer Injured in Penitas Main Street Crash

Penitas, TX (January 17, 2023) On Monday afternoon, a La Joya Police officer suffered injuries after a pursuit crash on Expressway 83.

Texas DPS officials say that the crash happened at the intersection with Main Street in Penitas.

Reports say that the crash happened after a failed traffic stop that led to a chase.

Officials say that a blue Ford Expedition refused to stop when the officer attempted to do a traffic stop. Authorities say that the Expedition was reported stolen.

Furthermore, the pursuit ended in a crash, the police unit crashed into another vehicle. Paramedics transported the officer to a hospital, no word on the condition of the other driver at this time.

Meanwhile, the driver for the expedition continued driving east and is still active.
