81-Year-Old Evelyn Simangan Killed in Tragic Crash on Dyer Street [Union City, CA]

Union City, CA (April 11, 2025) – 81-year-old Evelyn Simangan tragically lost her life Tuesday evening after a tragic crash on Dyer Street.

According to authorities, the fatal incident happened at around 8:50 p.m. near Cabello Drive in Union City.

Reports say that a tragic sequence of collisions on Dyer Street near Cabello Drive resulted in the death of an elderly pedestrian and serious injury to a driver.

Authorities say that a vehicle struck Simangan. When the driver exited to assist her, a second vehicle struck both of them.

Police and emergency responders arrived to find both Simangan and the first driver with major injuries. Simangan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

The second driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities confirmed that impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
