71-Year-Old Fatally Struck while Walking at 43rd Avenue and Buckeye Road
PHOENIZ, AZ (December 17, 2019) – An elderly man was killed in a pedestrian crash early Tuesday morning in Southwest Phoenix.
Police say 71-year-old Eusebio Navarette Jimenez was walking on the sidewalk near 43rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.
Jimenez reportedly crossed the street and walked in front of an oncoming semi-truck for unknown reasons. As a result, Jimenez suffered fatal injuries before he was later pronounced dead.
Moreover, the 52-year-old driver of the semi-truck remained on scene and cooperated with officials. Authorities also later said that impairment was not a factor in the collision.
43rd Avenue was closed from Buckeye to Washington for a brief time during the investigation. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes during the morning commute. However, the area has since reopened.
