2 Injured, Alleged DUI Driver Eugene Hill Arrested after Chilcoot Crash
CHILCOOT, CA (July 10, 2019) – A driver and a California roadwork flagger suffered injuries after an alleged DUI crash on Highway 70 Monday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in a construction zone shortly before 8:00 p.m. 33-year-old Eugene Hill of Palmdale was driving a Toyota Tundra westbound on Highway 70 approaching a roadwork area. At the same time, a flagger was holding a stop sign while a Nissan Rogue was stopping at that sign.
Officers said Hill struck the Nissan at high-speed. The Nissan subsequently hit the flagger, who was launched into the air before landing in a ditch. She suffered major injuries and was flown to a hospital.
The Nissan also landed in a ditch, while the Toyota overturned. First responders transported the Nissan driver to a hospital with moderate to major injuries. Hill did not sustain serious injuries.
Officers arrested Hill for suspicion of felony DUI. They booked him into the Plumas County jail.
