24-Year-Old Oxnard Man Fatally Injured after Suspected Violent Argument on Fifth Street
OXNARD, CA (May 30, 2018) – A man was killed early Wednesday morning after a suspected violent argument resulted in a pedestrian collision on South Victoria Avenue. The victim was identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday as 24-year-old Estevan Estrada of Oxnard.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the incident took place at West Fifth Street and 490 South Victoria Avenue. Authorities arrived at the scene at about 6:30 AM and found Estrada lying in the driveway of a gas station next to a red sedan with severe front-end damage.
He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Victoria County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He died from blunt-force injuries to his torso.
After interviewing multiple witnesses, they determined that the incident might have been a result of a heated argument between the victim and an unidentified 31-year-old Oxnard man, who was found inside a parked vehicle near the scene. Authorities identified the man as a person of interest, but he was not immediately taken into custody.
Details about how the collision unfolded were not immediately available to the public. One person was being questioned by the authorities to help with the ongoing investigation, but it was not confirmed if it was the 31-year-old Oxnard man. It was also noted that a replica firearm was found near the site but its role in the incident was unknown.
