Esmeralda Garza of Donna Killed in FM 493 Vehicle Collision [Donna, TX]

Donna, TX (May 23, 2023) – On Sunday, 57-year-old Esmeralda Garza of Donna sustained fatal injuries following an FM 493 vehicle collision.

The solo-vehicle collision happened at about 5:33 p.m. in the area of Mile 13 Road.

Investigating officers said Garza was a passenger in a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by a man.

The vehicle was southbound on the freeway approaching Mile 13 Road at an unsafe speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the east side of the road.

Immediately, the paramedics rushed the driver to DHR Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Garza was airlifted to the same hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. 

Officers are investigating the fatal collision.
