Erik Woodward Dies, Fernando Morales Injured in Napa Pedestrian Accident

 
NAPA, CA (April 13, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident Saturday evening on Highway 29 in Napa, authorities said.
 
The victim has been identified Monday as Erik Keith Woodward, 25, of Napa.
 
Just before 9:00 p.m., Woodward attempted to cross the four-lane Highway 29, south of 1st Street. After that, he was struck by a northbound 2001 GMC that was driving freeway speeds.
 
Woodward was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The GMC driver, a 51-year-old Fernando Morales of Concord, told officers that he tried to swerve. However, he could not avoid Woodward. Morales suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized.
 
Authorities are still working on the incident and urging witnesses to come forward with any information.
