23-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 101 Freeway in Valley Village
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (March 9, 2018) – A 23-year-old man of North Hollywood was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking on Ventura Freeway in Valley Village, early Friday morning.
At around 6:00 AM, Eric Martin was walking north across the southbound lanes when he traveled into the path of a Land Rover LR3. The driver, a 50-year-old Topanga man, was unable to stop the vehicle in time and collided with Martin. He remained at the scene and dialed 911 to report the incident.
Emergency personnel arrived at the crash site and pronounced Martin dead at the scene.
All lanes of the highway, except the southbound lane, were closed off for investigation. There was heavy traffic on Friday morning in the area. It was not immediately confirmed why Martin was walking on the freeway. Authorities continue to investigate; no other information has been provided at this time.
