Officers Arrest Driver in Los Angeles Fatal Collision

Los Angeles, CA (February 17, 2023) – On Thursday morning, Eric Barbosa, a 19-year-old California State Northridge student, lost his life following a pursuit crash on Roscoe Boulevard.

Minutes past 12:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department officers spotted an SUV that was being sought in connection with an armed robbery that took place on Wednesday.

The authorities attempted a traffic stop at White Oak Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, however, the driver did not pull over, so, the pursuit started.

The suspect drove westbound on Roscoe Boulevard when it went through a red light and collided with a southbound vehicle on Lindley Avenue. 

Barbosa, who was driving the southbound vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. 

Moreover, the authorities arrested the suspect driver after fleeing on foot. Officers said they recovered a loaded rifle from the SUV.

The passenger who is the second suspect fled on foot and remained at large. 

The force of the high-speed impact severely damaged both vehicles.

Meanwhile, the LAPD is investigating the Los Angeles fatal collision.
