Crash on 80 Freeway Near Mile Marker 156 Left Elyzah Leon Injured
Pershing County, NV (July 15, 2020)– A single-vehicle crash on I-80 killed one passenger and left Elyzah Leon hospitalized on Sunday.
The tragic incident occurred on July 12 on 80 Freeway near mile marker 156. The Nevada Highway Patrol released more information regarding the crash.
According to NHP, a gray Nissan Maxima was traveling westbound on I-80, when suddenly the car veered from the paved portion of the road. The car continued into the dirt median and collided into a construction barrel.
The police further said that the driver, an 18-year-old Elyzah Leon of Winnemucca, overcorrected. Thus, the car went across the westbound lanes, ran off the road, and eventually overturned.
Leon was transported to Humboldt General Hospital however, the severity of her injuries is currently unknown. Meanwhile, a Winnemucca female juvenile passenger of the vehicle died at the scene.
Moreover, the investigation revealed that the two were not wearing their seatbelts during the incident. As a result, both of them were ejected from the vehicle.
NHP said the investigation is still on-going.
