Elizabeth Garcia Hospitalized in Kyburz DUI Crash on Highway 50

 
Kyburz, CA (January 15, 2021) – On Thursday, 23-year-old Elizabeth Garcia from Yuba City was injured in a DUI crash on Highway 50.
 
The accident took place at around 2:45 p.m. about a half-mile west of Alder Creek Road.
 
28-year-old Ras Huston of Sacramento was driving a Cadillac Escalade eastbound. Then suddenly, his vehicle drifted toward the right shoulder.
 
Huston turned the vehicle to the left, but he lost control of the Escalade and crossed over into oncoming traffic.
 
At the same time, 54-year-old Concord resident Mark Nunnally was traveling westbound in a Toyota Rav4. Huston’s Cadillac crossed in front of him and crashed into a rocky embankment.
 
Huston’s vehicle rested in the westbound lanes. That is when Nunnally’s Rav4 struck the right side of the Escalade.
 
CHP officers and El Dorado County Fire Protection District firefighter-paramedics responded to the scene.
 
When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Elizabeth Garcia of Yuba City seated in the Escalade’s front passenger seat. She sustained major injuries.
 
Immediately, responders airlifted Garcia to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
 
Similarly, they took Nunnally to Marshall Hospital by ground ambulance. He suffered minor injuries.
 
On the other hand, Huston was not injured in the crash.
 
Moreover, authorities ruled out alcohol as a factor in this crash while all parties were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
 
This accident is another crucial reminder to never drink and drive.
