Injuries Reported in Phoenix Injury Accident on Bethany Home Road and 26th Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (December 28, 2021) – Monday morning, authorities arrested Elizabeth Eaton after a crash on Bethany Home Road.

The incident occurred when an eastbound motorcycle on Bethany Home Road about 12:30 p.m. Then, a dark-colored SUV or minivan veered left in front of him on 26th Avenue colliding with him.

Authorities accused 52-year-old Elizabeth Eaton of leaving the scene of a serious injury crash. Then, an officer sustained injuries and lied on the road.

“Our officer was transported to the hospital with very serious leg injuries,” reported the department’s spokesperson, Sgt. Ann Justus. “He is expected to survive, however, we don’t know the outcome of the injuries will look like for him long term.”

Also, the officer needed immediate surgery on his leg.

“When I saw it, I just couldn’t believe my eyes,” said Chilo Chacon, owner of the Lunch Box Café. “You don’t leave somebody behind laying down like that!”

After the crash, witnesses rushed to help the injured officer.

Then, an ambulance responded to the scene after returning from another incident and assisted in the emergency.

“Our investigators collected evidence at the scene, including debris from the vehicle. Oftentimes that debris can get us to a make, model, and even a year of a vehicle, so we are hoping it does that in this case,” Sgt. Justus revealed.

Police confirmed that the dark-colored SUV or minivan sustained damage on the rear right side and possibly on the left passenger side.

“In the state of Arizona if you are involved in a collision with injures that didn’t involve a person impaired can be a civil traffic ticket. But when you fail to remain on the scene, it can be a felony,” Sgt. Justus said.

“Staying at the scene is always better,” revealed Andy Anderson, former assistant chief. “Any time you leave the scene of an accident the charges go up and can be more severe.”

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish).
