Man Killed after Speeding Driver Efren Gonzalez Crashes into Car in Turlock

 
TURLOCK, CA (August 1, 2019) – A man was injured following a fatal rear-end crash Thursday morning in a rural Stanislaus County.
 
The crash happened just before 6:00 a.m. near the intersection of Linwood and North Vincent roads.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1987 Toyota MR2 was slowing down to turn onto Linwood when it was rear-ended by a 2014 Lexus sedan.
 
The driver of the Toyota, only identified as a 62-year-old Winton man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has been withheld pending notification of his family members.
 
The Lexus driver, 20-year-old Efren Ceballos Gonzalez of Delhi, was hospitalized with moderate injuries. He was reportedly going about 70-100 mph in a 55 mph zone.
 
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
