Efrain Torrez of Patterson Killed in Las Palmas Avenue Collision [Stanislaus County, CA]

Stanislaus County, CA (July 27, 2023) – On Tuesday evening, 60-year-old Efrain Torrez of Patterson sustained fatal injuries following a Las Palmas Avenue collision.

The traffic collision happened at about 6 p.m. east of Sycamore Avenue.

Investigating officers said Torrez was driving a westbound Toyota pickup in front of a Toyota Camry driven by 22-year-old Kish Malapingan, also of Patterson. 

Apparently, Torrez slowed the vehicle and Malapingan braked but was not able to avoid rear-ending the pickup. The pickup rotated clockwise and drove off the roadway toward the dirt shoulder. The driver’s side of the pickup truck then struck a tree. 

Sadly, Torrez succumbed to his injuries at the scene. 

Malapingan did not incur injuries from the collision and the authorities do not believe that drugs and alcohol were factors in the accident.

Officers are still investigating.
