Idali Ortiz Injured in Fatal 2-Vehicle Collision on Dyer Street

El Paso, TX (January 13, 2023) On Monday evening, a traffic accident Dyer Street claimed the life of 30-year-old Edwin Roman and injured 2 other people.

Authorities say that the fatal 2-vehicle collision happened at the 10400 block of Dyer at 6:17 p.m.

Reports say that 17-year-old Idali Ortiz, of Northeast El Paso failed to yield the right of way to the Ford Focus driven by Roman at a high rate of speed.

Officials say that Ortiz was driving a northbound 2020 silver Nissan Pathfinder attempting to turn left, Otriz failed to right of way and caused a T-bone crash between both vehicles.

The impact of the crash caused the Nissan to roll over at least once. Authorities say that Ortiz and a 15-year-old female passenger inside the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries.

Furthermore, paramedics transported Ortiz and the girl to the University Medical Center hospital, where the 15-year-old female remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, El Paso Police Department says that Roman succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police say that failing to yield and the high speed the Ford Focus was going played a factor in the fatal 2-vehicle collision.
