73-Year-Old Contractor Killed in Pedestrian Crash in Emerald Hills
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 17, 2018) – A man was killed Monday morning following a pedestrian crash in the Emerald Hills. The victim was later identified as 73-year-old Edward Dutton, who was in the area to survey a property.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident took place shortly before 7:30 AM in the 5300 block of Geneva Avenue. Dutton was crossing the street on Geneva when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. After colliding with the pedestrian, the car slammed into a nearby parked vehicle.
Dutton sustained fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old motorist did not sustain injuries and remained at the crash site to cooperate with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
