2 People Killed in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Union Avenue

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 6, 2020) – Late Thursday night, Edgar Martinez and Liliana Bautista died in a car accident on Union Avenue in south Bakersfield.
 
The incident occurred at about 11:18 p.m. when 23-year-old Edgar Martinez of Arvin drove his car north on South Union Avenue north of Ming Avenue. For reasons still unidentified, he drove off the road.
 
The vehicle’s left bumper hit a chain-link fence and a cinder block wall.
 
Reports revealed that the driver and his female passenger didn’t wear seat belts during the crash. Thus, they were thrown from the vehicle, and died at the scene.
 
Later, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office revealed the identity of the deceased as 23-year-old Arvin resident Edgar Antonio Martinez. They also identified the other victim as 24-year-old Bakersfield resident Liliana Lisset Bautista.
 
The police are still investigating the fatal crash.
