Edgar Lugo Charged With DUI in Santa Rosa Hit-and-Run Accident

Santa Rosa, CA (November 22, 2020) – On Friday, police arrested Edgar Lugo of Santa Rosa in a hit-and-run crash on Buss Drive.

The Buss Drive accident took place after 11 PM.

Authorities responded to a report of a black Nissan sedan that crashed with a parked car in the 2500 block area.

During the investigation, a witness pointed to the suspect who was driving fast.

Police pulled Lugo over and found a handgun with a high-capacity magazine on the floorboards of the vehicle.

“A regular magazine will hold 10 rounds, but this one holds 31,” said Sgt. Terry White. “It’s almost as long as the gun itself.”

Also, he said that the gun was modified “so that when you pull the trigger, it continues to shoot until you take your finger off the trigger.”

Further, authorities said Lugo was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

As a result, they arrested Lugo for the hit and run. They booked him into the Sonoma County jail and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a machine gun, possession of a loaded firearm in public, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

This is an important reminder to never drink and drive.
