Edgar Contreras, Efrain Tadeo, Michael Crispin and Gwendolyn Crispin Die in Head-On Crash on Highway 93 Near Highway 232
WELLS, NV (February 13, 2020) — Late Saturday morning, four victims were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 93 near Highway 232.
Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the collision around 11:40 a.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to reports, a northbound 2019 Subaru Impreza was attempting to pass traffic when it crossed the double-yellow line in a no passing zone. In the southbound lane, the Subaru eventually struck an oncoming silver 2019 Hyundai Sonata.
The NHP further noted that the crash took place along a blind curve and that alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the accident.
Due to the impact of the crash, all four occupants died in the collision.
Elko County Deputy Coroner Nick Czegledi identified them as 60-year-old Michael R. Crispin and 61-year-old Gwendolyn Crispin—both of Meridian, Idaho—in the Hyundai. Czegledi also identified the 24-year-old driver, Edgar J. Morales Contreras, and the 26-year-old passenger, Efrain Madera Tadeo, as the two occupants of the Subaru.
Following the crash, drivers faced a closure in both directions for nearly four hours.
To the family and friends mourning this heartbreaking news of Michael R. Crispin, Gwendolyn Crispin, Edgar J. Morales Contreras and Efrain Madera Tadeo, we’d like to express our sympathies to you.
