Driver Arrested and Passenger Killed in Rollover Crash near White Cloud Campground

NEVADA COUNTY, CA (August 4, 2018) – A man was killed early Saturday evening and another was arrested following a suspected DUI crash near the White Cloud Campground.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 6:00 PM. A Toyota pickup truck, driven by 33-year-old Joshua James Robinson of Grass Valley, was heading westbound on Highway 20 when it made an unsafe turn to the right.

Robinson lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times before coming to a rest. His passenger, 35-year-old Grass Valley resident Dylan Shively, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, Robinson was airlifted to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The pickup driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was booked into the Nevada County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved loved ones of Dylan Shively. We wish them strength and comfort during this trying time. May he rest in peace.
