Suspected DUI Crash on State Route 74 Kills Pedestrian [Lake Elsinore, CA]

Lake Elsinore, CA (September 7, 2024) On Thursday evening, a man pushing a shopping cart was killed in a suspected DUI crash on State Route 74.

According to the CHP, the fatal pedestrian crash happened on SR 74, west of Ardenwood Way, at about 9:27 p.m.

Reports say that a 2018 Nissan Versa struck a man pushing a shopping cart.

Authorities say that the Nissan was travelling behind the man when the driver made an unsafe right turn and and struck the victim.

Officials say that the female driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was later arrested by officers and was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center.

The driver is facing charges on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, felony hit-and-run, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
