Duc Lam and Lina Vo Hospitalized Following Deadly Head-On Accident on Gilman Springs Road Near Alessandro Boulevard

MORENO VALLEY, CA (April 16, 2019) – A head-on collision on Gilman Springs Road near Alessandro Boulevard turned deadly Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash unfolded around 7:15 p.m.

Authorities say a westbound 2017 BMW 430i encountered a slower-moving sedan on Gilman Springs Road. Duc Lam, of Santa Ana, crossed over the double yellow line in an attempt to surpass the car.

According to Officer Darren Meyer, the 27-year-old’s BMW chanced upon an eastbound Ford Taurus. Subsequently, the Ford and BMW collided with significant force.

As a result of the crash, the Ford driver suffered fatal injuries. His identity has yet to be released by the coroner’s office. He was, however, described as a 49-year-old Hemet man.

Meanwhile, Lam and his 24-year-old passenger – Lina Vo of Monrovia – suffered significant injuries. Paramedics transported both to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment.

It appears another driver traveling behind the BMW was hit by flying debris. That 46-year-old man sought treatment for minor injuries at Moreno Valley Hospital.

In their investigation, authorities ruled out impairment as a possible factor. However, an ongoing investigation regarding any loose ends is underway.
