1 Hospitalized after Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Edison Highway

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 22, 2020) – Early Sunday morning, a drunk pedestrian sustained injuries in a crash on Edison Highway.

The California Highway Patrol responded just after 2:00 a.m. They came after receiving reports of a man lying on the road on Edison Highway, just East of the Mount Vernon over-crossing.

According to the CHP, a westbound truck hit the pedestrian crossing the road north on Edison Highway.

The officers also confirmed that the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol. Eventually, responders took him to a local hospital for moderate injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the police.

As pedestrians, we are also responsible for the laws. It is important to follow these rules to avoid accidents that can lead to injuries and worst, death.

The Soaring Statistics of Pedestrian Accidents

In today’s climate, taking strolls outdoors is becoming the new normal. Thus, pedestrian accident statistics are soaring.

A pedestrian accident occurs when someone who is not in a vehicle is injured by someone in a vehicle crashing into them.

To prevent any injury as a pedestrian, avoid dangerous behaviors. Always walk on the sidewalk (no jaywalking), stay sober, and make eye contact with drivers. Lastly, don’t assume the driver can see you.

Oftentimes, the extent of injuries sustained are not clear until months after an accident.

Thus, hiring the right firm, who has the resources to spend, can make all the difference in protecting yourself from future losses a severe accident can bring.
