Injuries Reported in Wichita Falls Traffic Crash on Highway 287 near Loop 11
WICHITA FALLS, TX (October 17, 2024) – Wednesday morning, an alarming auto accident on Highway 287 near Loop 11 injured 2 drivers.
The incident happened on Highway 287 near Loop 11.
The crash involved a Ford F-150 and a Kenworth truck tractor with a trailer, which was moved to the right lane as traffic was impacted. According to the WFPD, both drivers were transported to United Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses reported that the Ford was speeding when it struck the tractor-trailer. The WFPS noted that both vehicles sustained extensive damage. WFPD Sgt. Charlie Eipper stated that as of 10:15 a.m., the westbound lanes on Northwest Freeway at Loop 11 remained blocked, with no estimate for when they would reopen.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
