Reddaway Driver Fatally Struck by Truck near Anderson Grade Summit

 
SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA (February 28, 2019) – A man was killed early Thursday morning following a truck collision on Interstate 5. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Anderson Grade Summit, shortly after 5:00 AM. A Reddaway semi-truck crashed and overturned due to unknown circumstances.
 
The unidentified Reddaway driver exited his vehicle when an oncoming 2016 Volvo truck struck him. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. It is unknown whether or not the 35-year-old Volvo driver will face charges related to the fatal incident.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Yreka CHP office at (530) 842-0530. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
